Caught between seasons, the cocoon swayed gently, its silk warm against the cold air. Inside, Aerin struggled, unsure whether to break free or remain hidden, each movement sending ripples through the fragile shell. Snowflakes gathered as Lumi watched, landing softly as the world seemed to pause. Two seasons stood on the edge of meeting. With a final shudder, the cocoon split open.
As she floated down, something stirred below. Near the edge of the meadow, where frost thinned and pale green pushed through the snow, Lumi saw a cocoon trembling.

Aerin tumbled forward, landing in the frosted grass. His wings, new and very fragile, unfolded slowly. They showed hints of green and violet. He gasped, unsteady and unsure whether the cold would harm him or if the warmth inside him would fade. They froze when they saw each other. Lumi had never seen a Butterfly Boy before. Aerin had never seen a Snowflake Fairy. For a moment, neither moved. Lumi smiled. Aerin smiled back.
Her voice was gentle, her eyes full of kindness. “Little ones,” she said, “why do you ask the seasons to break?” Lumi and Aerin knelt in the snow. Together they lifted their joined hands. “Because love found us,” Lumi said softly. “And it will lose us,” Aerin added, his wings dusted white. Mother Nature looked upon them for a long, quiet moment. Then she raised her hand, and the snow slowed, hanging in the air like listening stars.
The cold deepened as frost reached for Aerin’s wings and Lumi felt her warmth fade. Faced with Mother Nature’s choice, they looked at each other and chose love over fear. Stepping closer, they held on as snowflakes and petals swirled together, caught between winter and spring.
A snowflake who no longer froze what she loved. A new season was born, fragile but beautiful. Mother Nature named the new season Bloomfrost, a time when snow kissed flowers instead of harming them. Lumi and Aerin became its guardians, dancing through gentle snowfall and budding leaves. Butterflies fluttered beside snowflakes, and children learned that love could create beauty where rules once stood firm.
